I’ve made some changes in homefeatured module.
When you rollover the image it will show large image as a tooltip.
You need to replace/upload the following files.
/modules/homefeatured/homefeatured.tpl
/modules/homefeatured/homeImage.js

I would suggest you to use my latest image enlarger. Latest image enlarger works with all pages including homefeatured(homepage).
